Bob Dylan Called “Arrogant” by Nobel Academy Member

The singer/songwriter’s silence received as “impolite”

Since Bob Dylan won the Nobel Prize in Literature last week, he hasn't acknowledged the honor. He didn’t talk about it at his shows, didn’t returnthe Nobel committee’s emails, and though it was mentioned on his website, eventhat acknowledgement disappeared. In an interview about Dylan’s silence, one member of the Swedish Academy—the group that awards the prize—had some harsh words for the singer/songwriter, AP reports. “One can say that it is impolite and arrogant,” said Per Wästberg. “He is who he is.” Wästberg said that the Academy still hopes to communicate with Dylan before the December 10 ceremony.
Artists who have congratulated Dylan on his win include Tom Waits and Leonard Cohen. Comedian and musician Tim Heidecker once againbusted out his Dylan impression with a Nobel Prize-specific impersonation.
